Celebratory centennial ales

Raise a pint!

BY LÉO CHARBONNEAU | DEC 06 2010

On behalf of Mount Royal University, which celebrates its centennial this academic year, Calgary’s Wild Rose Brewery has made a commemorative copper-hued ale named Royal 100, available in old-fashioned one-litre bottles.

Coincidentally, Wilfrid Laurier University has also decided to mark its centennial, in 2011, with a commemorative brew. The yet-to-be-named celebratory ale will be produced by local favourite Grand River Brewing and will be available in half-litre bottles.

Both universities hastened to add that while commemorative brews are a fun activity, the two institutions also have a full series of more serious events planned or ongoing to mark the occasion.
