The University of Manitoba has reappointed Lalitha Raman-Wilms as dean of the college of pharmacy in the faculty of health sciences. During her first five-year term, she oversaw the launch of the institution’s new doctor of pharmacy program and the development of the college of pharmacy’s strategic plan. She previously held leadership roles at the University of Toronto’s Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy and was president of the Association of Faculties of Pharmacy of Canada.

Michael Quinn has assumed the position of provost and vice-president academic at Vancouver Island University. Dr. Quinn, who began his new role in June, has a host of academic leadership experience, most recently serving as vice-provost and associate vice president, academic at Mount Royal University since 2019. Prior to MRU, Dr. Quinn spent 16 years as an associate and full professor in the faculty of environmental design at the University of Calgary. Dr. Quinn holds a PhD from York University and is a multi-SSHRC and NSERC recipient.

Peter Nickerson will serve a five-year term as dean of health sciences and medicine at the University of Manitoba, effective Sept. 1. Dr. Nickerson is a professor of internal medicine and immunology and has served since 2015 as vice-dean, research at U of Manitoba’s faculty of health sciences. He is also a clinical nephrologist and a medical consultant at the transplant immunology laboratory at Shared Health, a provincial health organization in Manitoba. Dr. Nickerson has received numerous awards, including a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Canadian Society of Transplantation.
